Use the following size charts and tips to find your ideal fit.

Measure from the midpoint of the kneecap down to the floor – best done while seated. If Junior is too small and Senior too large, Intermediate is the right in-between option.
| Shin length (cm) | Inches | Body height | Size (Selection) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 29–32 | 11.5–12.5" | up to 122 cm | Bambini 20 |
| 32–34 | 12.5–13.5" | 122–127 cm | Bambini 22 |
| 34–37 | 13.5–14.5" | 127–132 cm | Bambini 24 |
| 35.5–38 | 14–15" | 132–137 cm | Junior 24+1 |
| 38–41 | 15–16" | 137–147 cm | Junior 26+1 |
| 41–43 | 16–17" | 147–157 cm | Junior 28+1 |
| 43–47 | 17–18.5" | 157–168 cm | Intermediate 30+1 |
| 47–49.5 | 18.5–19.5" | 168–173 cm | Intermediate 32+1 |
| 48–51 | 19–20" | 173–180 cm | Senior 32+1.5 |

| 53.5–56 | 21–22" | 188 cm and up | Senior 36+1.5 |

Size is based primarily on hip circumference. Set suspenders and waistband first, then check length/volume to ensure protection and mobility.
| Hip (inches) | Body height | Size (Selection) |
|---|---|---|
| 20–21" | up to 99 cm | Bambini S/M |
| 21–22" | 100–109 cm | Bambini L/XL |
| 22–24" | 120–130 cm | Junior S |
| 24–26" | 130–140 cm | Junior M |
| 26–28" | 140–150 cm | Junior L |
| 28–30" | 150–160 cm | Junior XL |

| 37–40" | 180–190 cm | Senior XL |

The chest circumference is decisive. It should fit snugly, allow full arm mobility, and not restrict breathing.

|---|---|
| 48.3–53 | Bambini |
| 53–57 | Junior |
| 56–59.5 | Senior |

No. Height helps with net coverage, but quickness, technique and positioning are just as important. With properly fitted goalie equipment, any body size can perform successfully.
There have been successful professional goalies under 175 cm. Technique, athleticism and a properly fitted setup matter more than height alone.
Standard size is 183 cm wide by 122 cm high and is used internationally.
There is no single “perfect” body height. What matters is that pads, pants, chest protector and mask fit exactly – see the charts above. For in-between sizes, Intermediate often helps; pads with +1/+1.5 provide more thigh rise.
In professional leagues, average height is above 185 cm. In amateur hockey, the range is much broader – fit, protection and technique are more decisive.
In the butterfly style the goalie drops to the knees to seal the lower half of the net with the pads. Pads with +1/+1.5 and a secure chest protector help here. Find a large selection at Hockeyzentrale/Hockeyoffice.
